The Troodos Mountains are Cyprus' green heart — a range of pine-forested peaks, hidden waterfalls and stone villages that feel a world away from the coast. Whether you have half a day or a full week, here's how to make the most of hiking in Troodos.
One of the most accessible and rewarding routes, the Persephone Trail winds through pine forest with sweeping views over the valley below. It's an easy-to-moderate walk suitable for most fitness levels, which is why it forms the core of our Troodos private day trip.
One of the most photographed spots in the Troodos range, Millomeris Waterfall is reached via a short forest path near the village of Pedoulas. It's especially impressive in spring, after the winter rains, and pairs naturally with a stop in a nearby mountain village.
Beyond the trails, the villages themselves are worth the trip. Kalopanayiotis is known for its Byzantine monastery and thermal springs, while Lefkara is famous island-wide for traditional lace-making and silverwork. Both villages are included in our guided Troodos itineraries, giving you a genuine sense of mountain life alongside the hiking.
If you'd rather explore on two wheels, the same forested paths that make for great hiking also form the backbone of our Troodos bike and hike tour, which combines a scenic ride with a shorter guided walk and a village stop.
Wear proper walking shoes, bring water and sun protection even in cooler months, and check that your chosen trail matches your fitness level — routes range from gentle one-hour walks to full-day treks of 15-20km. If you're not sure which route suits your group, tell us your fitness level and available time and we'll build the right itinerary.
