Cyprus enjoys one of the mildest climates in the Mediterranean, which means there is rarely a bad time to visit — but if cycling, hiking and outdoor tours are the main reason for your trip, some months are noticeably better than others. Here's how the seasons break down.
Spring is widely considered the best time to visit Cyprus for active travel. Temperatures sit comfortably between 18–24°C, the countryside is green after the winter rains, and wildflowers cover the hillsides around the Troodos Mountains. This is the ideal window for our Troodos Mountains day trip and any of our cycling tours, since long climbs and coastal rides are far more comfortable without summer heat.
Summer brings hot, dry weather with temperatures regularly above 32°C. Coastal routes like our Cape Greco bike tour stay enjoyable thanks to sea breezes, and we shift start times to early morning to avoid the midday heat. Mountain hiking is still possible in the Troodos range, where altitude keeps temperatures several degrees cooler than the coast.
September and October offer some of the best conditions of the year: warm sea temperatures, softer sunshine, and noticeably fewer crowds on the trails and in Nicosia's Old Town. Many experienced cyclists consider early autumn the sweet spot for combining coastal and mountain routes in one trip, such as our 4-day Cyprus adventure.
Cyprus winters are mild by European standards, with daytime temperatures often around 15–17°C at lower elevations. It's a quieter season for tourism, which makes it a great time for private city tours like the Nicosia private tour or the street art bike tour. The Troodos Mountains occasionally see snow at the highest peaks — a striking contrast to the coast just an hour away.
For the best balance of comfortable temperatures, green scenery and manageable crowds, aim for April–May or late September–October. If you're set on a summer trip, simply start early and let us build your itinerary around the cooler morning and evening hours.
